چکیده

A three-dimensional micromagnetic simulation has been performed to clarify the effect of self-induced anisotropy on domain wall behaviours, such as wall broadening and wall pinning, with wall transitions. Simulation results of the broadening of the domain wall with the transitions agree qualitatively with the Kerr microscope observation: for the wall transition which has a Bloch line between two C-shaped walls without a cap switch at each surface, the broadening of each Neel cap mainly occurs toward the opposite directions and the jog along the wall also becomes larger; for the wall transition which has a cap switch with a Bloch line, Neel caps still keep the same position after broadening. Details of pinning characteristics of the domain walls with the wall transitions by the self-induced helical anisotropy will also be presented.

Curvature-induced domain wall pinning

It is shown that a local bend of a nanowire is a source of pinning potential for a transversal head-to-head (tail-to-tail) domain wall. Eigenfrequency of the domain wall free oscillations at the pinning potential and the effective friction are determined as functions of the curvature and domain wall width. The pinning potential originates from the effective curvature-induced Dzyaloshinsky-like ...

Universal domain wall dynamics under electric field in Ta/CoFeB/MgO devices with perpendicular anisotropy

Electric field effects in ferromagnetic metal/dielectric structures provide a new route to control domain wall dynamics with low-power dissipation. However, electric field effects on domain wall velocities have only been observed so far in the creep regime where domain wall velocities are low due to strong interactions with pinning sites. Here we show gate voltage modulation of domain wall velo...

Effective pinning energy landscape perturbations for propagating magnetic domain walls

The interaction between a magnetic domain wall and a pinning site is explored in a planar nanowire using micromagnetics to reveal perturbations of the pinning energetics for propagating domain walls. Numerical simulations in the high damping 'quasi-static' and low damping 'dynamic' regimes are compared and show clear differences in de-pinning fields, indicating that dynamical micromagnetic mode...

Reconfigurable superconducting vortex pinning potential for magnetic disks in hybrid structures

High resolution scanning Hall probe microscopy has been used to directly visualise the superconducting vortex behavior in hybrid structures consisting of a square array of micrometer-sized Py ferromagnetic disks covered by a superconducting Nb thin film. At remanence the disks exist in almost fully flux-closed magnetic vortex states, but the observed cloverleaf-like stray fields indicate the pr...

Interaction-induced anisotropy in the onion-to-vortex transition in dense ferromagnetic nano-ring arrays

We show that the onion-to-vortex switching field in dense arrays of nanostructured ferromagnetic rings is strongly dependent on the angle between the applied magnetic field and the array’s main axis. The variations in switching field of up to 8 mT are connected to the anisotropy produced by dipolar interactions between domain walls in the rings. The interactions stabilize the onion state in ali...
